Last post of 2010?

I'm on a train to Gotenburg for the moment. It'll be nice to see some good friends again. Must been a year or so since the last time.
It's still a couple of days left on 2010 but I might as well wish you all out there a

...and some wise words

Something for my poor little helper

I've been thinking awhile on getting a laptop bag for my dear little MacbookPro. The problem is - there's so many bags out there but none was suitable enough for the notebook or the one who's carrying it - me.
I ended up just put my baby nude in the carry-on suitcase and drag it around with all the other stuff I've put in there. Luckily it seems to made the trip here quite good.

Today I finally saw something close to suitable. I couldn't find a pink one so I settle with a classic black. I'm too lazy to take photos so I'll just use the one on the net. Don't think I'll manage to take better pictures either so.

In Sweden!

With more snow and a lot lower temperature.

I've been too busy eating all the good food.

Gone flying

The journey started off good. Flights lifting in time and good desserts. Love those tiny KLM cups and the Dutch knows desserts!

Found a good quote in the Flight Magasin, I'm liking KLM more and more. These are words!
The view was great. Don't mind the snow at all at this stage. All the snow just make it very enjoyable to look down from the airplane window.
The room was nice as well. Well isolated = warm with a big bed. A good sleep is alway underated.

It was on the way back that everything gone wrong. Flight cancelled, delayed and finally the last flight out of Copenhagen left without me. All this because of a small amount of snow. I hope the airports has learnt a lesson now and be better prepared next time.
Something to keep me awake through the flight chaos.

My GPS

Christmas is closing in and yes I do need a good rest. Going to start on that break this weekend with some skiing.

I've been feeling a bit lost lately.....partly because my two years relationship with my GPS ended abruptly when it failed on me last week. Well the GPS wasn't the only thing failing.
Yesterday I finally got the new GPS I ordered more than one week ago! I haven't taken it out for a long ride yet but finger crossed that it's at least as good as the old one. Hmm WTF am I talking about? The old one is lying dead in the back of my car so the new GPS can't be worse than that....I hope.

Anyway I need to insert a picture so voilà here's today's dinner. So glad that I had kimchi or else I'd been panicking for not including vegetable in my meal.

Pepparkaka?

To get myself into the Christmas feeling I've decided to make the traditional Pepparkaka. I bought the dough several days ago and was about to try when I found out that I have no rolling pin. No problem, IKEA got it. Taking out the dough I felt the stickyness and yes, that's right I have no flour at home!
It's Sunday today so the stores are close. No I'm not delaying the baking anymore so here's the result.

I have yet tasted it. Hope that it taste better than it looks. I'm quite pleased that my flat now have a smell of Christmas. =)

Work is fun

Something I enjoy doing at work is playing Lean games and looking at real productions. It just that you only get to play the lean games once at each company you start at and looking into a part of the factory. What can be more fun than running a whole factory right?
Now you can take the fun home and I don't mean taking your work home.
There's a board game call Factory Manager which kind of fill the same function, the difference is that you'll buy it yourself and play it at home. I'm excited, but where can I find some players?

And here it comes

Like a surprise. I was waiting. Winter wouldn't have been real without the snow.

I'm really looking forward to digging out my car tomorrow......or maybe not.

Midnight Snacks

Something I've been craving for under a long time now. I must have been a Korean in one of my former life coz I just can't get enough of Kimchi.

Found some today at the biggest Asian shopping mall I've ever seen in Norway. I got three of it. When I think about it I should have gotten more.
Staying up this late I just can't ignore the complaint coming from my stomach. Kimchi is quite good as snacks.

Journey to the South

Most of the time I'm an optimist, I know. When it comes to estimating the space of my car I wish the pessimist who hide deep down in me would like to turn up. So a question for you out there, do you think all this would fit in a Volvo S40?

The answer is a big NO! So I was standing in the cold weather with my car stuffed to every cubic centimeters and there's still bags left!!! I did panic.

Next challenge is to find the harbour and find out how to board the ship with car. Believe me it wasn't a simple or obvious proccedure.

The cabin lifted my mood up a bit. Looks quite cosy and nice.
Breakfast buffé was so-so. I've seen a lot better at hotels. Watching the sunrise while I'm still half sleepy was quite nice.

On the minus side, walking among the few guest on board I felt like I'm visiting my grandma at her home for old people. Americans, Germans, Norwegians old couples were enjoying their vacation.

And the pleasant part of the trip ended here. I'll tell you about my 'warmth' welcome next time.

Bye bye my fivestar hotel

I kind of miss my old flat. I live there for over a year. Everything was perfect....well except that the bathroom sometime wasn't available for me when I need to. And I can't walk around the place naked, not I normally do but the fact that you can't is the point.

I miss my huge and comfortable bed, the fully equiped and effective kitchen, my walk-in closet with make-up table and most of all how structured and logical things has been placed. Comparing to my old landlord, my new one is an amateur in home renovation. They looks good at first sight but not so pratical. Light switches in wrong side of the doors, shelves placed way to high (for ppl 180cm and above) ect. This landlord needs more pratice and experiences.

My Birthday

First time celebrating birthday in Norway. The first thing I got was a birthday card from my flatmate. He left it on dinning table before he left, how sweet!
At work, outside office a collegue called me asking where I am because they want to arrange a cake party for me at work.
Back at my office, I got 2 cakes delivered to my desk. And this third one arrived, delivered by my boss, when everybody has gathered.

Didn't realize how many people I've been working with and got to know over this past year until I've seen them gathered in one place.

Then after work I got invited to another college/friend's house for my birthday party ^^
When the asians gathered together, food and entertaintment is the focus and this time we played Majong. Finally I got some rigid pratice since we played for hours. I would had stay there, playing until morning if it wouldn't had been for the 1 hour long drive home (>_<)

The company

Two of the dishes.

 This one was main.

On my way to work today

With the Nowegian landscape looking as it does, ferry is a part of your everyday
Eventually it feels like crossing a bridge, you wouldn't notice any big differences.
One thing I love to do is driving to work as the sun is rising behind snow covered mountain tops.

A spy in my kitchen!

We live on the 4th floor which is the top floor of this building. I thought my flatmate was pulling my leg when he suddently told me that there's a guy peeking through our kitchen window. But he was right! This guy builded a high ladder up next to kitchen and was obviously doing some restauration on the wall. I know that coz I opened the window and had a chat with him while the flatmate was standing a bit in the back with his mouth opened. Open the window and start talking to stranger isn't something he would do just like that!

I deer you meet me again!

D1: It's clear, just follow me deer.
D2: Are you sure? Looks like a car is coming.
D1: It's alright, it'll see us and break.

Driving to work this morning I thought I saw a big dog crossing the street. Breaking in and as I came closer - It was a deer.
Relieved that I didn't hit that and as I was about to push the gas, another one popped up in front of me and was about to cross.

D2: I told you I saw a car coming! You never listen to me!
D1: Don't worry, didn't I tell you it'll break for us? They always let us pass.

Stupid deers! Next time I see one, it'll be in a nice restaurant - on a plate!

What you should know about love & life

"Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable."
  --  C.S. Lewis

"Life is but a brief moment. The years go by quickly and old age arrives suddenly before we have an inkling. People desire so many things and waste their days in vain. Some yearn for gold, others for power, yet others for glory and a higher station. But when death's moment nears and they look back at their lives they've lived, they realise they've been happy only during those moments when they've loved."

A good meal

I went to that Teppanyaki place today. The staff was nice and spoke to me in different languages, which was really fun. The waitress spoke Cantonese, the Sushi Chef spoke Mandarin and the owner spoke Vietnamese.
I didn't really know what to choose when I got there but obviously they've got a special menu some variation so I went for that.

Starters: Miso soup and salad - I hate salad so didn't eat much of that.

After making me friedrice the chef continue on the main ingredients (chicken, prawns and salmon).

It surprised me that he served the chicken as a dish on it's own (after serving me salmon and prawns on a separate plate) with more fried vegetables.

The Sapporo suited the meal perfectly! I could barely walk out of there. Rolling back would've fitted me better. (>_<)
