Winter shopping

Ski-jacket. I was wavering between this one and a dark grey one. But in the end I prefer bright color.

Boots.

The skis and poles are in my closet. Too lazy to drag them out for a picture.
They're in black. Hm wonder how the color coordination will turn out?

A weekend with variation

I've been at home for a whole week now. Feels quite nice and relaxing .... and I'm also getting a bit bored.
A ski-trip was more than welcome and turned out to be quite good idea. There's a ski resort not far away and no hassle with ferries. This one reminds me about Romme in Sweden and I found a slope I'm comfortable with.
Too bad it's not always this clear and nice at the top. But occasionally, in between the rough wind, snowfall and fogginess you can catch a glim of the beautiful view.

I'm late with Christmas and Birthday this year

To those of you who think I'm impatient, you're so wrong. My big birthday was in November and Christmas was, well you all know when that was. The thing is, I've been patiently waiting for the gifts until today.

Some of them are from friends and family. Thanks for the gifts! Most of them I got for myself because I think I'm worth it. It feels like Christmas eve today. Opening the box from Japan was the best part.
As for the minus side, well I'll do the damage check next week.

Catch of the day

This is the first time I've seen a well checked pink shirt.
I'll show you the rest when I get home.
At this stage I start feeling homesick and miss my MacbookPro at home.

Standardize and Change

Although that's my work area, this post is not going to be work related rant. Well maybe a little depending on how you look at it. I think standadizing is good and change is bad. I'll explain to you why.
First of all I think there should be a world standard on which side of the road we drive - and it should be the right side, literally! In this way there'll be less traffic accidents cause by people who is forced into doing thing the opposite way to what they're used to.

Now to the 'change' part. When you have something good, functioning and standardized - don't change! For example:
  • The gearbox stick should always be on the right hand side
  • The driver seat should always be on the left hand side
  • The lid to the gas tank should always be screwable and not look confusingly half open half closed!
Change cause stress. If the change is unecessary then why do that to cause stress? Do you agreee?

Blob blob

The last time I visited an aquarium was several years ago in Osaka, Japan. It was a pleasant surprise to find one in the middle of Bristol. A good shelter on a windy, chilly day. Crossing the Horny bridge, next to a big metall ball lies the Bluereef Aquarium. Inside there was plenty of children and fishes. Both equally intressting to watch.

The best Korean is in Japan and the best Indian is in UK!

After a long day today I decided to had som Indian which is kind of a must if you are in UK. I was planning to sit down and had a relaxing nice meal but changed my mind when they said it's 40% off for take away. That and the fact that my car was standing on a spot where it said 'No parking' of course.
Getting back to the hotel I realized I might need some eating tools. Too hungry to do anything about it I packed up my gooddie bag and hey it's the kind of food you could eat with your hands if you want to because....it's the way you should eat Indian food =)
I just had the most tasty indian food ever and still struggleling to down my Mango Lasi. I'll think the almost untouched Peswari Nan will be perfect for breakfast tomorrow since I need to leave the hotel before they start serving breakfast. Life is hard!

This is what I got for take away:
The crispy snackie flake + dips
Grilled lamb
Peswari Nan
Mango lasi
Cobra beer

I think I'll come back another time and try their 5 course set menu.

I haven't been this scared for a long time!

It can't be that hard flipping left with right. I mean all I need to to is think Left instead of Right, right?

From what I know I just need to watch out for the pedestrian edge, getting used to switch gear with my left hand and avoid round-a-bouts.

So I got the car out of the carpark and there was loads of round-a-bouts on my way out of the airport. That and with almost zero visibility coz my windscreen is misty and I don't know what button to push to make it go away. I was terrified and had just stop in the middle of the road to find that button for the fan.

Tired after hours of travel but my eyes were wide open and alert.
When I finally got to the parking house near the hotel I don't really mind walking the last bit, dragging on 2 suitcases. I was just happy to get out of the car alive!

Why must people insist on driving on the WRONG SIDE OF THE ROAD??!!

How I got a new suitcase

When I got back to Bergen I was annoyed to find my favorit suitcase arriving without a wheel. I think they deliberately sent it out last after they've broked it.

The lady at the luggage handling wrote me a paper and told me to go and get a new one. Quite smoothe if I don't count the time I had to wait for her to open the counter.
Well I wished they had a pink one but they didn't. This one is even smaller than my pink one, which they kept.
While I was at the shopping center, I picked up some snacks for the evening to get myself in better mood.
It was meant as snack but did fill up my whole tummy that day. Wonder if they still got those left, I'll look tomorrow.

New Year with a good friend

The train to Gothenburg amazed me by arriving late with only 10 minutes. That's impressive for being SJ! I was so relieved my friend met me up at the train station. Having used to get around GBG by car, I'm totally lost among the busses and trams.

Welcome dinner

 Fika

I spent some time in GBG before heading to Båstad for New Year celebrations. With 18 people in a cabin (quite large one but still) one need to be creative when it comes to chill the New Year drinks.
The natural bar

This was a good idea which I can't take credit for coz I wasn't the one who came up with that.
Getting ready for the evening

After dinner and a few drinks, it's time to head down to the beach to for fireworks and counting down to 2011.

Back in GBG we met up with some friends for dinner at the usual place and then wrapped up the evening with some games

It was nice to see the GBG gang again. Thanks for hosting me (you know who I mean). I had a great time! Hope to see you guys again soon.

Sushi sushi sushi

I've been craving for Sushi for a long time before heading to Sweden for the big holidays. So the first thing I did was of course to find some Sushi.

And then I had some more...
So before leaving Sweden - more Sushi =b

Of course there are other delicious dishes as well, I'll post them later.
