What's going on in my backyard???

First I was woken up by some noise, sounds like somebody is building a road outside my window. Which isn't totally untrue judging by what I saw.

And then the next morning the lorry came back and dropped big stones!!??
By the time I got back home from work, somebody has started arranging the stones neatly in a pile
